Q: How is the credit amount calculated?The program covers 85% of a plug-in hybrid conversion up to $6,000. The Green Gears Hymotion PHEV system qualifies for the maximum $6,000 available.
Q: Which systems are available to add to my vehicle that qualify for the tax credit?Plug-in Hybrid systems are required to be DOT (Department of Transportation) approved , crash tested and safe to be eligible for the rebate. Hymotion is the only company that has a product that has been crash tested. The Hymotion PHEV battery system only works with GEN II Toyota Prius 2004-2009. The credit only applies to 2006-2009 vehicles due to a technicality in the certification process.
Q: How do I receive the tax credit?For individual car owners, when you file your tax return, $6,000 will be applied toward your tax payment. The great news is that you will receive the difference back from the government. For example, if you only owe $2,000 in taxes, you will receive a check for $4,000.
Q: Is the credit available for fleet & company owned vehicles?Yes, a direct rebate is available for non-profits and company fleet owners, but the program is different. There are limited funds so the first to sign up are most likely to receive them. This increases the incentive to convert now, while the funds are available. Once you make the conversion, your are eligible for the rebate.
Q: What forms do I need?We will help you fill out the proper forms, and point you to the proper state agencies.
Q: How long is the tax credit available?It is not known how long this program will last. It could change at any point. We recommend you act fast if you want to take advantage of the biggest credit available to date.
Q: How much does the conversion cost total?The battery system is $10,495 installed with a 3-year warranty. This includes 110v ac charge system, vehicle installation, customer /driver training and all hardware. The rebate covers $6,000 of the cost. The first 50 customers also receive a $500 discount for a total price of $3,995.
